Essential Cardiac Baseline

Basic Heart Check-Up Package $368

A solid baseline for assessing your cardiovascular health — combining a comprehensive blood panel, a resting ECG, and a treadmill stress test in a single, efficient visit. The ideal starting point for understanding your heart health and acting early.

3 Tests All Included
One Visit 60–90 Minutes
Results in 7 Days Reviewed by Doctor

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package is designed for anyone who wants a clear, affordable starting point for understanding their cardiovascular health — from the molecular level (blood biomarkers) through to how your heart performs under exertion (treadmill stress test).

Every test is interpreted together by a heart specialist, so you leave with not just numbers but a clear understanding of your baseline risk and what, if anything, to do next.

The Foundation

Comprehensive Blood Panel

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package includes the same rigorous 13-biomarker blood panel as our higher tiers, testing beyond standard metrics to uncover hidden cardiovascular risks.

Cardiovascular Risk

The Heart

  • Lipid panel — total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides
  • ApoB — a more accurate measure of atherogenic particles than LDL alone
  • hsCRP — high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, a marker of vascular inflammation
  • Lp(a) — a genetically determined risk factor for early heart disease (tested once)

Metabolic Health

Energy & Processing

  • Fasting glucose — screens for diabetes and pre-diabetes
  • HbA1c — 3-month average blood sugar control
  • Fasting insulin / HOMA-IR — detects early insulin resistance before diabetes develops

Organ & System Function

The Support Network

  • Full blood count (FBC) — anaemia, infection, blood disorders
  • Liver function — ALT, AST, bilirubin, albumin
  • Kidney function — creatinine, eGFR, urea
  • Thyroid function — TSH (thyroid disorders affect heart rate)
  • Calcium phosphate — bone and metabolic health
  • Uric acid — gout and cardiovascular risk marker
Beyond the Baseline

Cardiac Diagnostics

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package pairs your blood work with two functional heart tests — one at rest, one under exertion — to assess your heart's electrical activity and how it responds to physical stress.

Durations listed for each test are estimates for the procedure itself and do not include registration, preparation, or recovery time. We aim to keep your visit efficient while ensuring each test is performed safely and thoroughly — actual times may vary with individual circumstances.

Resting ECG

A quick, painless recording of your heart’s electrical activity at rest. Detects irregular rhythms, signs of a previous heart attack, chamber enlargement, and other structural changes.

Duration
5 minutes
Pain level
None

Treadmill Stress Test

Monitors your ECG, heart rate, and blood pressure while you walk on a treadmill at gradually increasing speed and incline. Reveals exercise-induced changes — such as reduced blood flow (ischaemia) or arrhythmias — that may not appear at rest.

Duration
15–20 minutes
Radiation
None

Is This Package Right for You?

Who Should Consider the Basic Heart Check-Up Package?

Consider this package if

  • You want a basic heart screening and some reassurance
  • You would like to finish your heart check in about an hour
  • You would like a baseline assessment of your heart to compare against in the years ahead
  • You are a young man needing a pre-enlistment (pre-NS) heart check before National Service

Common patient profile: Age 20 and above — or younger for a pre-NS check. Generally well, with no known heart concerns.

Important to note

  • The treadmill stress test requires you to be able to walk on a treadmill
  • It may not suit those with significant mobility, joint, or balance limitations
  • If you have multiple risk factors, a higher-tier package with cardiac imaging may suit you better
  • Your doctor will review your history and advise if any test adjustments are needed

Before Your Visit

How to Prepare for the Basic Heart Check-Up Package

Fast for 8–10 Hours

Required for accurate blood test results. Water is fine. Avoid food, coffee, and sugary drinks from the night before.

Wear Comfortable Clothing & Walking Shoes

You will walk on a treadmill for the stress test, so bring or wear suitable footwear and loose-fitting, comfortable clothes.

Bring Your Medication List

A complete list of current medications and supplements helps the doctor interpret your results, as some medicines can affect your heart rate during the stress test.

Avoid Caffeine on Screening Day

Caffeine can affect your heart rate and blood pressure readings. Skip your morning coffee or tea on the day of the screening.

Allow 60–90 Minutes

All tests are completed in a single visit. Plan your schedule accordingly — you will not need to return.

Let Us Know About Mobility Concerns

The stress test involves walking on a treadmill. Tell us in advance if you have any joint, balance, or mobility limitations so we can advise on suitable alternatives.

Common Questions

Basic Heart Check-Up Package FAQ

What is included in the Basic Heart Check-Up Package?

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package ($368 NETT, inclusive of 9% GST) includes a consultation with Dr Paul Lim, comprehensive blood tests (lipid panel, ApoB, hsCRP, Lp(a), fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin/HOMA-IR, FBC, liver function, kidney function, thyroid, calcium phosphate, uric acid), a resting ECG, a treadmill stress test, and a post-screening review with Dr Paul Lim to discuss results.

Where is the Basic Heart Check-Up Package available?

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package is available at both our Orchard (Camden) and Jurong clinics, as it does not require CT imaging. If you would like to add cardiac imaging such as a calcium score or CT coronary angiogram, those tests are performed at the ATA Medical suite at our Orchard clinic.

How long does the Basic Heart Check-Up Package take?

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package is completed in a single clinic visit of approximately 60–90 minutes, covering the blood draw, resting ECG, and treadmill stress test. Results are reviewed with your doctor within 7 working days.

What is a treadmill stress test?

A treadmill stress test (also called an exercise ECG) monitors your heart’s electrical activity, heart rate, and blood pressure while you walk on a treadmill at gradually increasing speed and incline. It can reveal exercise-induced changes — such as reduced blood flow (ischaemia) or arrhythmias — that may not be visible on a resting ECG. The test takes approximately 15–20 minutes of monitored exercise.

What does the blood panel test for?

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package includes the same comprehensive 13-biomarker blood panel as our higher-tier packages, covering cardiovascular risk (lipid panel, ApoB, hsCRP, Lp(a)), metabolic health (fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin/HOMA-IR), and organ and system function (full blood count, liver function, kidney function, thyroid, calcium phosphate, uric acid).

Can I add more tests to the Basic Heart Check-Up Package?

Yes. You can add individual tests a la carte — including a transthoracic echocardiogram, carotid intima-media thickness ultrasound (CIMT), a 24-hour Holter monitor, a coronary calcium score, or a CT coronary angiogram. Tests that involve CT imaging are performed at our Orchard clinic. Alternatively, our Plus, Advanced, Comprehensive, and Full packages bundle these tests at a lower combined price.

How should I prepare for the Basic Heart Check-Up Package?

Fast for 8–10 hours before your appointment (water is fine). Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes for the treadmill stress test. Bring a list of your current medications and any previous medical reports. Avoid caffeine on the morning of your screening. Allow 60–90 minutes for the visit.

Is the Basic Heart Check-Up Package suitable for everyone?

The Basic Heart Check-Up Package is suitable for most adults seeking a baseline cardiovascular assessment. The treadmill stress test requires you to be able to walk on a treadmill, so it may not be appropriate for those with significant mobility, joint, or balance limitations. Your doctor will review your medical history and advise if any adjustments are needed.
